The COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges in providing services. The Courts have significantly curtailed cases. Many other organizations have moved to work at home protocols, including the Law Society of Ontario and the Ministry of the Attorney General.
On behalf of the LIRN Board and the shareholders of LIRN (Law Society of Ontario, Federation of Ontario Law Associations and the Toronto Lawyers Association), we are urging all local law libraries to move to either unstaffed or closed status, if they have not already done so. During this period, licensees will be encouraged to seek legal information and case law online from CanLII and other online sources. For those libraries that permit security card access, and where the court house remains open to licensees, that access to library materials may be available.
Library team members should contact [email protected] with any questions regarding ongoing business obligations, financial matters or operational issues.
In keeping with public health authorities’ advice, we appreciate your support to ensure that our licensees and library teams remain healthy and safe and that local law libraries are doing their part to flatten the curve of the virus.
