Guide to the e-LiRN Suite of Resources
LiRN’s home page includes a helpful table for lawyers to see at a glance what they can access at their local courthouse library as well as remotely. It also has links to detailed information about each e-LiRN resource for their information. This can be shared with your lawyers who may be looking for additional information.

Print Titles available on e-LiRN – Consolidated List
LiRN has assembled a useful resource for organizing and promoting the e-LiRN titles. The Consolidated List of Print Titles on e-LiRN has filters and tabs by publisher which we hope will make it easier for staff to label their collections or create attention-grabbing dummy books. Current as of Dec. 1, 2025.

Library Staff Passwords – Remote Access
Library staff have individual passwords so that you can access the e-LiRN suite remotely. Please contact the each of the e-LiRN Vendors to change a password if you are a new staff member. We review the email addresses used and cut-off old library staff passwords so it is important that this is up-to-date.

Please see the LiRN wiki page for further information about training resources for e-LiRN.

Please contact each vendor to set up a group training session for your lawyers. It is often accredited for LSO CPD – Professionalism.
Introduction to e-LiRN suite of resources
Pia Williams (WLA) & Betty Dykstra (YRLA) hosted an e-LiRN introductory session on LwL YouTube in 2022, and provided some great sample questions & answers to demonstrate how to use the new e-LiRN resources! Chat record from the recording. Some of their tips:
- Call a friend! Librarians are a collegial profession and often like to help each other out
- AccessCLE (LSO CPD), Halsbury’s, CED (great starting points for research questions)
- Quantums (e.g. employment, criminal sentences) – how much notice, severance?
- It’s OK not to be perfect and there is no such thing as a stupid question, it’s a question that needs help answering which applies to all of us at times
They also created a helpful e-LiRN Resource cheat sheet by Topic, Resources, Checklists, etc.
Setting up e-LiRN resources on your lawyer terminals
Static IPs
The static IP is in place to ensure that lawyers do not accidentally log in with individual credentials and change the password, which would block access for everyone else. Using a static IP allows access to be managed at the organization level instead of through personal logins, preventing unintended disruptions. Every courthouse library has a customized URL from each e-LiRN vendor for their library’s access utilizing your static IP. LiRN has the list of Static IPs for each library.
Please contact Jacquie Fex <[email protected]> if you need your static IP address, or if your Static IP address has been changed. For example, if you get a new router or new computers, please let your IT provider know that the lawyer terminals have Static IPs. If the static IP changes, your access will be broken so please let LiRN know if you have a new static IP and we will request new customized URLS for each e-LiRN vendor (WL and Lexis+).
For vLex and rangefindr.ca, they have our list of static IP addresses and have whitelisted your static IP so that you can access them from the lawyer’s terminals without a password.
You can search for your Static IP address using Google: How to check my static IP address?
To find a static IP address in Windows, use the ipconfig /all command in Command Prompt, or check Network Connections for configured IPv4 settings.
- Windows Command Prompt: Open Cmd, type
ipconfig /all, and press Enter. Look for your network adapter (Ethernet or Wi-Fi). If “DHCP Enabled” says No, the listed IPv4 address is static.
