Vincent AI

vLex’s powerful legal research assistant, Vincent, is the first search and discovery aid of its kind to connect with one of the world’s largest legal databases – reducing risk, saving time and improving results. vLex has enhanced Vincent AI’s capabilities to include a new feature called Case Analysis. Vincent, using large-scale language models, can now read cases, extract key information, and automatically produce summarised headnotes – helping legal professionals understand the important issues addressed in a judgment at a glance.

  • Easy to use
Vincent’s intuitive drag-and-drop interface enables you to upload a relevant document, whether it’s a case, a skeleton argument, or any other legal document. You can also type or copy and paste relevant information into the text box as a starting point, to see where Vincent takes you.
  • An advantageous start
Vincent reads lengthy documents in seconds to find citations and party names. It can also identify key phrases, understand the content and find semantically similar documents. Vincent will return a unique set of highly relevant search results in a matter of seconds, which would have taken hours to compile manually
  • Extract key legal issues
Vincent AI will read and extract the key legal issues from a judgment to provide you with an understanding of the issues addressed within the case.
  • Headnotes and summaries
With only around 20% of cases being reported in many regions around the world, Vincent AI can help you navigate to the right case by providing automatically generated headnotes to help you understand the case without needing to read the full judgment. Importantly, Vincent can help with legal research, but you should always console and confirm any details within the source material before relying on it.

Remote Access for all E-LiRN resources?

As we developed e-LiRN, we discussed the feasibility of providing remote access with our vendors. The cost of making the suite accessible outside of our libraries was—and unfortunately remains—prohibitive. Vendors’ pricing models are tied to the number of lawyers who would have access to the product. We continue to discuss new pricing models that would make remote access feasible. However, at the moment, remote access remains cost-prohibitive.  For more information, please see:  Remote Access for e-LiRN – Is this possible? – LiRN

Library staff do have remote access to all of E-LiRN’s suite of resources through your passwords.  You can conduct research on behalf of lawyers and e-mail them the results.
