The library is unstaffed for statutory holidays including: Family Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Truth and Reconciliation Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

24 Hour Access: After hours access, including evening, weekends and holidays, is available to members of the Victoria-Haliburton Law Association. Courthouse ID is required for after hours entry.

All Licensed Lawyers, Judges, Justice of the Peace, Articling Students, and Law Students

Circulation Policy:
Books may be signed out for 2 weeks at a time, and may be renewed. At the end of this period they must be returned to the library, or replaced. Items marked with a “Library Use Only” sticker are non-circulating and cannot be removed from the library.

Collection:
E-LiRN suite of resources including:

  • Lexis+ Canada (includes Practical Guidance, Legislative Pulse, and Brief Analysis);
  • Westlaw Canada (includes Criminal Source, Estates & Trusts Source, Family Source, and O’Brien’s Encyclopedia of Forms –  select modules);
  • vlLex, includes Irwin Law’s Essentials of Canadian Law collection and Emond’s Criminal Law Series, and Vincent AI – a reputable source of AI for lawyers;
  • HeinOnline (offers full text articles from English language legal periodicals, dictionaries, and legislative material) – LSO members please contact the Great Library at [email protected] to obtain your log-in information; and
  • RANGEFINDR (a criminal sentencing tool).

The computers in the library are equipped with access to the following legal resources: Lexis+Canada, Westlaw Canada, vLex, HeinOnline, RANGEFINDR, CanLII, and the library’s catalog.

Continuing Legal Education (CLE):
AccessCLE is a searchable database of full-text LSO CLE/CPD articles since 2004. You can also use it to browse LSO CPD by topic.
