Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
The library is unstaffed for statutory holidays including Family Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Truth and Reconciliation Day, Thanksgiving , Remembrance Day, and December 24 at noon through the entire first week of January (inclusive).

24 Hour Access:  RCLA Members have 24/7 access to the library using their issued access card.

Audience Served: All Licensed Lawyers, Judges, Justice of the Peace, Board, Commission or Tribunal Members, Articling Students, and Law Students

Circulation Policy:
Paid members of the RCLA have borrowing privileges only. Books may be signed out for a 60-day loan period, At the end of this period, textbooks and materials must be returned to the library or replaced with a new copy. Overdue books will be subject to reduced library privileges. Items marked with a “Reference Only” sticker are non-circulating and cannot be removed from the library unless special arrangements are made with the library staff based on a case-by-case exception.

Collection:
E-LiRN suite of resources including QL, LN Practical Guidance, WL Criminal Source, WL Estates & Trusts Source, WL Family Source, vlex including Irwin Law’s Essentials in Canadian Law titles and Vincent AI – a reputable source of AI for lawyers.

Electronic resources such as Westlaw Canada (CriminalSource, FamilySource, EstatesandTrustSource), O’Brien’s Encyclopedia of Forms (Master Index, Leases, Wills and Estates only), ProView, Lexis Nexis Advance Quicklaw, Lexis Nexis Practical Guidance, VLex Canada (also, in a pilot project with LiRN for REMOTE ACCESS with VLex – Irwin Law collection – email [email protected] to sign up), Rangefindr.ca, HeinOnline, and AccessCLE found on library computer terminals only.

Services Available:

  • Computer Print and photocopy – $0.25/page
  • Researching and photocopying of caselaw, statutes, etc. (There is no charge for this service except the cost of the photocopies). Requests may be in person, by telephone, fax or e-mail. If copies of cases are e-mailed there is no photocopy charge.)
  • Electronic research and Internet access
  • TV, DVD, laptop and projector are available for use.
  • Computers available for Microsoft Word use
  • Legal Product Training – Library staff will be pleased to assist and train members on the electronic research products. If you are interested in legal software training, please email the library office and we will arrange a training session to suit your schedule.
  • Research Assistance – Library staff is available to respond to your questions and assist you in using the resources of and available to the library. We can help you locate and note up cases.  This is a free service.
