Circulation Policy:
Not open to members of the public. Members may sign out materials three weeks. Overdue books will be subject to fines and/or reduced Library and NCLA Member privileges. Some items are on reserve and can only be consulted in the library. Visiting counsel are welcome to use the collection in the library. The library participates in interlibrary loans with other county and district law libraries.

History:
The Law Association of the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham was incorporated on 7 March 1924. When the association’s name changed to the Northumberland County Law Association (“NCLA”) in 1976 the NCLA continued to maintain the articles of incorporation. Unique Collections:
The NCLA possesses a handful of judges’ personal bench note books that are displayed in the lounge; there is also a bust and collection of Andrew Lawson’s documents and an oral history of his time in Cobourg as he was a prominent member of the association and also the founder of legal aid Ontario.
