Circulation Policy:
All print materials can be signed out for two weeks, with the exception of reference texts, which have a 48-hour loan period. Only members of H&PELA are allowed borrowing privileges.

History:
By 1841 the county had access to local courts but local government was not yet in place. The 1849 Baldwin Act established the main classifications of a municipality, (designation by City, Borough, Regional Municipality and/or County) all of which still form the basis of the system in place today. The County of Hastings was incorporated in 1850.
Pictured below is the first County Courthouse in Belleville. The first Hastings County Law Library was situated at the north end of the building prior to 1930.
