The library and it’s resources are available for use by members of the Sudbury District Law Association outside of these times. Emails sent to the library from Thursday evening to Sunday will be answered on Monday morning.

All Licensed Lawyers, Judges, Justice of the Peace, Articling Students, Law Students, and Licensed Paralegals

Circulation Policy:
The SDLA allows the circulation of loose-leafs, annual publications, and recent periodicals by current members of the association. There is a initial loan period of two-weeks, but materials can be renewed if no one is waiting on access. Visiting counsel or legal professionals may take materials out of the library, but not out of the courthouse building. Certain historical materials may be circulated at the discretion of the executive board and/or library staff. Members of the public may only use resources in the library space. The library offers ILL services to other courthouse libraries throughout Ontario.

E-LiRN suite of resources including QL, LN Practical Guidance, WL Criminal Source, WL Estates & Trusts Source, WL Family Source, vlex including Irwin Law’s Essentials in Canadian Law titles and Vincent AI – a reputable source of AI for lawyers.

History:
The Sudbury District Law Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit association in 1923 by a group of lawyers who set the mandate to:
Provide and maintain a District Law Library for the use of the members of the Association and In connection with the Law Society of Ontario to promote the general welfare and interests of the legal profession in the District of Sudbury.
