LiRN’s 2025 Goals

LiRN’s Board of Directors has set the organization’s goals for the upcoming year! These goals are aligned with our strategic priorities and will guide our work over 2025.

1. Improving Communications

One of LiRN’s 2025 priorities is to continue to improve our communications. In 2024, we contracted with an external provider to conduct a communications audit (review the audit here). In 2025 the Board of Directors will develop a communications strategy with the intention of:

  • Filling communication gaps
  • Better engaging stakeholders
  • Establishing clear goals and objectives, messaging priorities, target audiences, and preferred communication channels

We will focus on the “Improve Communication” recommendations from the Key Network Processes consultant’s report and refine the system to update and manage contact information. Learn more here.

2. Core and Additional Services / Responsibilities Policies Review

The library services and management responsibilities policies were adopted by the Board of Directors after extensive consultation with shareholders and stakeholders in December of 2022. There was originally a two-year transitional phase; that was recently extended by the board to three years in order to allow for more data collection on how the policies as originally adopted are working on the ground.

Management will meet with associations to discuss the policies. The Board will review the data and make any necessary amendments to the policies at the end of the revised transitional period.

3. Strategic Planning

Our strategic plan is coming to an end, and the Board has its sights set on the future! Consultations with shareholders, associatins, library staff, other legal organizations, and other stakeholders will be held in Q2 – stay tuned!

4. Marketing

As part of the Innovation and Equity of Access to Legal Resources project funded by The Law Foundation of Ontario, LiRN has engaged with a marketing firm to expand awareness of the services provided both centrally and by individual libraries throughout the network. These efforts will continue into 2025.

5. e-LiRN Evaluation

In the new, AI-driven world of legal resources, change is a constant. While we continually evaluation the electronic esources offered centrally through e-LiRN, the time has come to do a deep dive into the resources we offer. Over the course of 2025, we will re-evaluate our offerings and create a vision and mission for e-LiRN to serve the current – and future – needs of our users.
